Network

A group of people needed to connect.

Computer Network

A computer network or data network is a telecommunications network which allows nodes to share resources.

• devices exchange data with each other using a data link
• Connection between nodes are established using either cable media or wireless

Types of Computer Network

There are three types of computer network

• LAN
  • Local Area Network : Collection of devices connected together in one physical location
• MAN
  • metropolitan Area Network : Connects computers within a metropolitan area, which could be large city, multiple cities and towns, or any given large area with multiple buildings.

• WAN
  • Wide Area Network : Large Computer Network connects groups of computers over large distance

Host

Computer to be connected to a network. Host can refer to any device that connects and communicates within the network.

Each host has unique : identifier (IP address)

Topology

The way that defines the structure, and how these components are connected to each other. The arrangement of a network that comprises nodes and connecting lines via sender and receiver is referred to as Network Topology.
